Mission

In 2009 Ashley Abernethy was diagnosed with Sino-Nasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma (SNUC). SNUC is a very rare and aggressive carcinoma with a poor 5 year prognosis. Ashley fought and lost a courageous 7 month battle Dec. 1 2009. The following year we organized Ashley Abernethy's Purple Star Foundation in hopes of raising awareness and funding for a cure. To date we have raised over $150K and have given to research organizations who have dedicated staff to do research on SNUC. Those organizations, Cayman Biomedical Research Org (works closely with staff at the University of Michigan), Kansas University Cancer Hospital and MD Anderson, where Ashley was treated. We have made strides in genetic testing and markers, immunotherapy trials and and supporting SNUC patients with treatment.
