Mission

Founded by Cornell Capa in 1974, the International Center of Photography (ICP) is an exhibiting, collecting, and teaching institution dedicated to the exploration of photography and visual culture and their impact on society. ICP realizes its mission by: providing opportunities for photographers at all levels to develop their skills; offering educational programs for young people to explore their world through photography; building, preserving and making accessible its world-class collection of over 220,000 photographic prints and objects; and introducing a general audience to historic and contemporary image-based media through acclaimed and internationally-touring photography exhibitions.
