Mission

Animal Care & Assistance Fund (ACAF) provides families with an alternative to euthanasia or a life of suffering for their beloved pet. We recognize the dynamic bond between families and their furry companions --we offer hope when there is nowhere else to turn. We are saving pets' lives in the Pittsburgh area by offering pet owners, in financial crisis, an alternative to euthanasia, when their pet faces a treatable, yet life-threatening condition. We are proudly affiliated with Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center (PVSEC). Taking your pet to a specialist or an emergency center can be quite costly. Our fund was established to alleviate that burden for qualifying families who need assistance with their pet's care. We believe that no family should have to make a decision about saving their pet based on the cost of care.

Pets are a vital part of our family yet every year more than 1,000,000 pets go without veterinary care because their owners can't afford to pay for medical treatment... tragically, animals are often euthanized or suffer needlessly. Animal Care & Assistance Fund (ACAF) was established to help those families in need. The average amount of assistance awarded per family is approximately $1,000. With over one million pets in the greater Pittsburgh region our work is never done. ACAF funding is made possible by the generosity of of community donors and through our fundraising events.

How your donations can help:
$2000 can help a pet with radiation treatment
$1,000 can help a pet receive a major medical surgery or procedure
$500 can help a pet with glaucoma treatment
$250 can help a pet with a dental surgery
